I grew up in Los Angeles, California – formerly known as “South Central” – idolizing my grandmother, Dora Lee Hamilton. She taught me the virtues of compassion, empathy and hard work. When I was five (5) years old, I promised her I would become a lawyer as we watched television in her living room. I have now taken and passed bar examinations in three (3) different states – New York, New Jersey and California.
After law school, I moved to New York City to work for the National Basketball Association (“NBA”) in their International Marketing Department. I helped establish and implement the NBA’s internal league review policy for NBA Marketing Partners – designed specifically to assist individual business units reach their target consumers and comply with appropriate League guidelines. I enjoyed my job and the work, but I felt empty because I was not using my skills to advocate for individuals in a courtroom.
I am the Managing Partner of Filer Palmer, LLP. My primary focus is working with individuals who have suffered personal injuries, or those who have been involved in police misconduct cases. The majority of my cases involve excessive force by police officers, but I have also handled jail cases, false arrest and denial of medical treatment cases.

She also interned with the Los Angeles Public Defender’s office, in the Mental Health and Juvenile Departments. In 2015, Ms. Filer interned with Loyola’s Project for the Innocent, where she worked with a team of students and faculty investigating habeas corpus petitions for individuals who alleged they were wrongfully convicted. During her last year in law school, Ms. Filer was a member of Loyola’s Center for Juvenile Law and Policy’s Juvenile Justice Clinic, where she was part of a legal team representing minor children convicted of serious crimes.
After law school, Ms. Filer joined FILER | PALMER, LLP as an associate attorney. She is admitted to practice before all California state courts and the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
